Re: Goodbye, England's Rose

Dear Lena

You are correct. The lyric was actually altered from the original by Bernie
Taupin. Taupin did the alterations not John. I got it wrong in the note
this morning. The song 'Candle in the Wind' appeared on the album 'Goodbye
Yellow Brick Road'

"Goodbye Norma Jean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your name"
Music by Elton John, Lyrics by Bernie Taupin
