Dear Steve: It was not this line that made the claim. It was Campbell of Glenorchy who held the debts for the then current Earl of Caithness, who promised the Earldom to Cambell, if he would pay off certain of those debts. Although a dubious deal in law, Campbell merely came north to collect. Look up Altimalach on the Web page for a fuller discussion.
