My vote is for Hastings the Pirate "who plundered, killed, pillaged and
generally wrought havoc in the city of Chartres." My kinda of guy. These
were a bunch of hooligans. They could teach the Hell's Angles a few new
tricks. Rollon was himself bloodthirsty. These Normans adopted the Frankish
feudal law and the French language. They retained the Viking warrior cult,
which set them apart from other Christian rulers in a unique way. Openly
Christian secretly predominantly pagan they to lived fight, rape, pillage
and loot. The fruit of their convoluted 1/2 and 1/2 religion were their
talents for war and power.
