Re: testing a new discussion site idea-please read this

Hi Ray:

I'm one of the ones who never got a nibble.  About a month ago I put the very sparse information I have out and not one answer.  You mentioned Shetland and I thought, "maybe this time".

All I have is: John Sinclair married to Margaret Reid were the parents of Agnes Williamson Sinclair, Born September 27, 1835 in Muckle Roe, Delting, Shetland Islands. She died October 24, 1882 in Ulsta, South Yell, Shetland Islands.

She married Laurence Robertson on December 16, 1856 in Delting.  He was born September 16, 1833 in Kirkabister, Lunnasting, Shetland Isles.

They had: Janet, b. Oct. 05, 1857
Laurence John, b. July 27, 1859
Margaret, b. September 03, 1861
John, b. February 01, 1864
Agnes, b. May 07, 1866
Christina, b. June 02, 1867
Barbara, b. November 12, 1870
Robert, b. November 09, 1873
William, b. 1877 &
Agnes, b. 1880

I have lots more information on their children, I just have nothing going backward.

The Sinclair name must have had some importance to the family because my husband's middle name is Sinclair.  I would sure love to find out more about them.

Thanks,

I will respond to anyone who has any interest in Sinclair Places, or Geological areas named Sinclair.

Dear Laurel:  I have felt badly that so many cousins have come to our table and don't even get a nibble.  One thing that might help is to place a squib on our menu for first-time users "Please give all the information you have; names, dates, places, known in the family or inferred".
I have and will continue to respond to all of those which mention Caithness, Edinburgh, Shetland (because of my work with my pen pal in Western Australia), Nashville and California.  My closely related Sinclairs came to Los Angeles in 1906.
