Declaration of Arbroath, 6 April 1320
Henry St. Clair (1275-1336), Eighth Baron of Roslin, signed the Declaration of Arbroath ( Latin image and English translation, English, Latin, Latin) of 6 April 1320 from Scottish nobles to the pope that declared Scottish independence: ``It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom — for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.''Last changed: 00/05/28 14:35:50
