Wanda, I was just looking in Ancestry.com.  They haven't put the NC 1880
on line yet. But, in 1870 there was no Buncombe County.  County names
change. Either the county is made from another county or gets swallowed
up and the name changed. viz - Dunmore Co, VA was changed to Shenandoah
Co.  There is a North Carolina web site listing all the counties. You
can search or I will.  regards, Sally
