Dear Lynn,
                Not 100% sure, but believe the town in Argyllshire is called 
Tarbert.  On the way from Glasgow to Tarbert by Loch Fynn, one has to pass 
through Tarbet on Loch Lomond, which is (or used to be!) in Dunbartonshire. 
Thought this might lead to some confusion with records.   All the best,
