Re: More on Eureka

Gidday Suzanne,

Yes, what a great place Sovereign Hill is. A place to see. I went there on a
school trip, many years ago. I would love to visit again soon. I haven't
been researching my family for long, but have found a lot of useful info
from various Historical society's around the area's that my Robert was. Most
records are held at the Public records office in Ballarat or Melbourne. And
yes there are records of mining license applications and those who had
shares in the mines. I am just as isolated from the records as you are in
NZ. I live at the top of Aus and Vic is the bottom. I am hoping to relocate
down to Vic soon. The PRO will not except phone call's or letters in the
mail. To get records, you need to get a researcher to look for you. If you
know what your after it cost's about $10 to $20 plus postage. There are a
list of researchers at the PRO. I'll find it and send to you later. I have
had great help from a local historical society near Ballarat. A wonderful
lady there has found most of Robert's records for me. Here's an address of
Historical Society's in Vic.

Milamba, your in Vic. Maybe you have more to add then this greeny does?

If you give me some details of your ancestor, I will keep a look out for him
when I'm looking for info on mine. There were many different Sinclair
families mining in Vic in the 1800's.
Annie
