Older references refer to Shropshire as Salop. Oswestry is an English town on the Welsh border (keeping the barbarian at bay :-) ). The original settlement dates back to 550BC. roman occupation started in 75AD and it has been alternately English and Welsh until it finally settled as English 1535. It's the birthplace of Wilfred Owen and the resting place of King Oswald. My Father Peter Sinclair was born there in 1945, his father also Peter Sinclair was born there in 1920 (I think) and his father also Peter Sinclair (do you see a pattern) was born there at the end of the last century. From that point on it gets a little vague but I think his family were also from the general area.</FONT></DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>You refer to "</FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2>The Sinclairs of England".&nbsp;A quick search reveals&nbsp;isbn=0832821675&nbsp; published by Higginson Book Company although I can't find an author.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>And "History of the Sinclair fam. in Europe &amp; Amer. for 1100 years" by L.A.
