Hi Cousin,,
The big reason was to drive Campbell out of Caithness. Glenorchy
had taken advantage of the older Sinclair Earl, Who had married a Campbell,
and foreclosed on his lands and the Title. The other Sinclairs were
unhappy. Ofcourse after the ambush at Altimarlach where the hungover
Sinclairs were jumped as they crossed the River Wick at the thieves burn I
believe That George Sinclair of Kiess was aching for a good fair fight. He
ultimatly recovered the Earldom through Parliment. Before Altimarlich there
had been a fight with the Campbells and they witndrew permitting the
Sinclairs to capture a wagon load of whisky. Needless to say the
celebrated, many for the last time.
