Hi Cousin,
Typical of the English, they have their Scottish History wrong. It was
under the reign of King William III, and because the elderly chief had not
sworn allegienc to King Billy in time the sent a troop of soldiers out to
get rid of the MacDonalds of Glencoe. The Chief had attempted to ge to fort
William in timeb but the sheriff had moved. Some think purposly. The
Government troops were taken in during a snow storm and experiencd the
hospitality of the MacDonalds for about a week. Then during the night they
awoke and killed the chief in his bed and anumber of the rest of the
village, and drove otners out into the winter night. The Government troops
under a Campbell reciprocated the hallowed law of hospitality with murder.
They really have no excuse.!!
                                                    Regards, David
