Actually Antonia,
I got side tracked. I keep being confounded by the inadequacy of my
dictionaries so I mentioned this to our son's, friend who brought over
another dictionary which wasn't any better. But also another book was
brought along..."The Professor and the Madman" by Simon Winchester. This
is "a tale of murder, insanity, and the making of the Oxford English
Dictionary."
There it was just a little book, borrowed and very intreguing. So I
read it. Very interesting and I could relate it to my John Wesley St. Clair
in that the madman who contributed greatly to the Oxford Dictionary, had
been an Army doctor in his youth at the Wilderness Battle. It was perhaps
this experience that drove him over the edge. JWS was wounded at Laurel
Hill which I understand was a part of this battle, therefore, it is
conceivable that he was treated by this doctor or at least in the same room,
or building, or country (ha).
Also looked up the Iron Brigade on the web. There just happens to be a
6th WI website with a picture of the Brigade hat and guess what company's
insignia is on the hat?....Co. K. JWS's very company. Haven't contacted
them yet but itching to do so.

I bet you guys are going to have a great time! How is the weather?
Boston and vicinity really got hit. Pete and Barbie are enjoying Florida.
Glad they got out of there and can really relax. Give my greetings to all.
Laurel
