Why should it be so amusing to know that Tariq Aziz is, in fact, a
Christian? Many Arabs are Christians, as it happens. Perhaps if more
people in the west realized this, they would be less likely to be so
anti-arab. That said, religion is no basis on which to judge whether or
not a person is good, bad, moral or immoral, clever or stupid .
Unfortunately, regardless of the fact that both Christianity and Islam
preach tolerance of those different than themselves (Islam, in fact,
preaches that Muslims should be tolerant of those of ALL faiths and
itself incorporates much of Christianity and Judaism into it's tenants.)
these two seem to be always at odds with each other. Christians dislike
Muslims and Muslims return that dislike, both without even knowing very
much about the other. Knowledge is the key. If we all would simply take
the time to learn more about each other, I think we would find that we
all have a good deal in COMMON, in addition to those things that make us
different. Just take this Sinclair mailing list for example. All of us
who participate come from different walks of life in different parts of
the globe and yet we all have at least one thing in common - our
Sinclair ancestry - which makes many of us related in one way or
another. Let's look for the things that we have in common, the things
that we can share and that will bring us together - not the things that
make us different and pull us apart.
