Sinclair--Interesting comment on the origins of horsepower. I had not heard
that before. There are many measurements, not only in engineering, but many
industries, that just sort of happened. Many of the origins are lost, but
since everyone uses the same definition (usually), it works fine. By the
same token, there are many machine parts which have nicknames, such as the
center engine cowling on a 727, known affectionately as the "doghouse".
Well, that's what it looks like!
