If any of you have a chance to attend the tour put on by May McKerrell of
Hillhouse, it's well worth the cost. For 28 pounds a day, it included coach,
terrific lunch, entrance fees, a local fiddle band concert and a concert w/
Ally Bain and Phil Cunningham. Additionally, there were four chiefs at the
Border Gathering itself (which is Sunday noon to 1700). This year the trip
included Carlisle, Dumfries, and the Lake District. You can then tack on the
Tattoo to the end of it (which was quite nice this year). I believe the
opening black tie reception next year is 7 August.
