Dear Sinclair,
Roslin is one of two areas in Scotland that has traditionally belonged
to the Sinclair family. The other one is Caithness. I do not remember when
Roslin and Caithness came into the possession of the Sinclairs, but I think
this may have happened after William the Conqueror invaded England in 1066

Sincerely,
