Article 5 Of the NATO Treaty has been invoked. It has never before happened.
An attack on America is an attack on us all. France is not a member of the
military Alliance but today Présidence de la République France, Jacques
Chirac, has declared that the attack on America was a direct attack on the
soil of France. Regardless of the political differences Europeans ore with
you. NATO stands with you. Europe stand with you. Friendship is to be
purchased only by friendship. A man may have authority over others, but he
can never have their hearts but by giving his own. . You have come to
Europe's rescue not once but twice. You have given us your hearts. We now
give you ours. To each one of us friendship has a different meaning. For all
of us it is a gift. Thank you for your gift. Thank you for your friendship.
Stand strong America.
