Re: a few Sinclairs



Where does this Santo come in?  Santo is the Latin (groan I will not write
in Latin again) corruption of the French Saint (Holy) Clair (Light) It is
much after the original name St Clair. To place names in Latin was a
Mediaeval affectation.

Clair was an English who lived at various locations in France, fleeing from
a jealous woman.
