"Scots Overseas: Emigrants and Adventurers from Argyll and the NorthernHighlands"

Hi all -

Was tidying up some boxes of books and came across a little booklet I have
by David Dobson named the above. Printed in 1993 it says it is the first in
a series. I must have had it awhile because I do not remember owning it and
it is in very good condition. Must have just tucked it away sometime ago.

The booklet is just a list of names a snippet about the person and the
source found.

Here are the Sinclairs listed:

Sinclair, Alexander, born 1748, labourer, deserted the 1st Battalion, the
Royal American Regiment, in 1772. (New York Gazette & Weekly Mercury
12.10.1772)

Sinclair, Alexander, born in Caithness 1789, died in Savanna, Georgia,
30.10.1813 (Savanna Republic 2.11.1813)

Sinclair, John, Caithness, member of the Scots Charitable Society of Boston
1739. (NEHGS)

Sinclair, Patrick, pro 12.12.1674 Barbados. (RB6.9209)

Sinclair, William James, born in Forsnain, Reay, Caithness, 1753, emigrated
to North Carolina on the Bachelor of Leith 1774, settled in Anson County,
North Carolina, before 1820, pro 4.1824 (NCSA.2.13)

Hope it helps someone.

Juli

Dear Sinclair.

Strange that you should head your e-mail "Little saint" because that is
exactly what "Niven"
means in Gaelic which, of course, my parents expected me to be but, in
which hope, I was
destined to disappoint them.

Seldom can anyone have been given a name in such direct contradictionto to
their nature. My
domine (Scottish headmaster) once said; "Thank God, there is a war on
because if there hadn't been you
would have created one".

I was deeply hurt.

And, yet, I can sign myself.........

The Little Saint St Clair
