According to the Kingcrest site, it is unlucky for a Sinclair to cross the Ord
(a 1,000 ft. high granite ridge on the southern border of Caithness) on a
Monday wearing green. This has its origin in the march southward in 1515 of
William, 3rd Earl of Caithness, and 300 men on their way to Flodden Field. One
returned. He appears to have left before the battle, carrying a "drum-head
charter" granted to the Earl by James IV.

That's it in a nutshell. I don't where the unlucky day of Thursday comes from.
I'll keep looking.
