If you want to see what Alesund looks like these days, right now, see:

It seems recognizable from when I was there about 9 years ago.
At the time, I was not aware that it was Rollo's home town.
Recent Alesund tourist information indicates Rollo's statue
is still there, and that it was given by Rouen early this century.
I haven't yet located a picture of it on the web.
