Myrna, I'm unsure of the term Thange, but a Barony would be a village
controlled by a Baron appointed by a King or Queen. A Royal Burg would be a town, such as Wick, that was given the distinction in part for safekeeping. In this case Wick was in danger of being invaded by an enemy. Making it a Royal Burg effectively made it a war against the King or Queen if attacked. Quite a deterrent don't you think?
