St Margaret

St Margaret was born in 1046 and died in 1093.

She, as you know, was born in Hungary.

She married Malcolm Canmore in 1069 in Dunfermline where, as I have already
pointed out in the general list, she is buried.

She brought Benedict monks to Dunfermline.

She was canonised by Innocent IV in 1251, largely as a result of the work
of her biographer
and confessor, Turgot, a Saxon monk from Durham who became the Bishop of St
Andrews.

She remains the only Scottish Royal saint - a distinction which is unlikely
to be challenged
by the present crop of Royals.
