The Lairds are not a Sept or Associated Family of Sinclait/St.Clair/Sinkler. 
Laird is associated with the Tweedside District. Tweedside is located to the 
south and east of Edinburgh. It appears that Laird did not align themselves 
with any Clan but remained a family of independents. (Taken from "Tartan For 
Me" 6th Edition.
