Dear St.Clair/Sinclairs,

My father visited St. Clair sur Epte in Normandy in the sixties and brought back several
medallions, of the type used by Roman Catholics, which depicted an actual saint of the Catholic
church named "St. Clair." My father said that this man lived in France in the middle ages and was
prayed to by individuals with sore eyes. So, it would appear that the town was named for the man
rather than for the expression "holy vision." If this be true, we might have to consider whether
or not this is a site for sore eyes!

Best wishes to all. John St. Clair
