I have been reading a series of books called the "Camulod Chronicles" by Jack
Whyte. It is historical fiction with the characters being fiction but the
history is as accurate as existing records can make it. There are 5 books in
the series, so far. The Skystone, The Singing Sword, The Eagle's Brood, The
Saxon Shore, and the is fifth (?) is just out.
The books deal with the Roman occupation of Britania (Britian), and the
problems they had with the peoples of Hibernia (Ireland), Cambria (Wales),
and Caledonia (Scotland). Good writing and good stories.
