Just because jerusalem had fallen to the Muslims, do not think for one
moment that Charistian pilgrimage to the Holy City had stopped. The Muslims
had always allowed the 'peopleof the book' free access to the holy places-
for unlike their Christian counterparts they possessed an exemplary degree
of toleration for other religions.
