My name is Anson J. Thurston, Jr. I am a 10th generation decendent of Daniel
THURSTON of Newbury, Ma. and am using the book THURSTON GENEALOGIES,
compiled and edited by Brown Thurston, 2nd edition (1892) to try and trace my
ancestors in the THURSTON line.
On page 26 under #67 I have MARY ST. CLAIRE m. STEPHEN THURSTON. no date of
marr. However in the book, it states that Stephen died 27 Nov. 1782, and Mary
re-married and had one daughter. It also states that Mary died 10 Sept.1811,
age 83. (my math give me dob of 1728, which means she would have been 53 in
1782) To further compound the problem, It is stated with an *, that Stephen
is said to have had 14 daughters and at least 2 sons, Stephen, who m.
ELIZABETH WIGGINS; Daniel, who m. HANNAH DUTCH; Mehitable, who m. ZEBULON
RING, of Deerfield, NH; Ruth, who m. ___ WIGGINS of New Market, NH; Sarah,
who m. Col. JOSEPH HILTON, of Deerfield, NH; and a daughter who married a
___ST. CLAIRE. There is also a Deorah (half-sister) who m. RICHARD BARTLETT
of Deerfield, NH
Stephen was quite a Military man. He was in Capt. EZEKIEL WORTHEN'S co., Col.
NATHANIEL MESERVE'S Reg. in the expedition against Crown Point in 1756, in
Capt. SOMERBEE GILMAN'S co., Col. JOHN HART'S Reg. in the expedition against
Lewisboro, NY and was in Capt. JERIMIAH MARSTON'S co. Col. JOHN GOFF'S Reg.
for the invasion of Canada.
I would like to know if this is the MARY SINCLAIR that is posted?
I am related to the SINCLAIR line thru my 2GGrandmother, SOPHIA BEAN, daughter
of RICHARD BEAN and NANCY SHAW, who go back to JOHN BEAN, JOHN SINCLAIR, ROGER
SHAW, and the HILLIARD'S, BATCHELDER'S, PARTRIDGE'S, PAGE'S, and the list goes
on thru blood and/or marriage to almost every early settler in NH.
