Torchlight Ceremony

This photo was taken Thursday evening just prior to the Torchlight ceremony. It is a beautiful ceremony and only begins when it is totally dark. The announcer does a great job of creating a mind-set of medieval times and such a gathering often before a battle is to take place with each clan announcing their arrival. Of course, in this new century, we are far more civil (?). The clans divide into four groups and enter the meadow from the four corners, signifying the clans coming together from the four corners of the earth. Each clan representative carries a torch, and in turn approaches the center of the field to announce the clan's presence, with a few words of his/her own choice.
