MEMORAL SERVICE

In Dunedin to-day 23rd.March a Memorial Service and a plaque  unveiled for the children, of early Scottish settlers who died and were buried at sea on the voyages from Scotland to Otago was held. A  children's choir from a nearby school
who were dressed in period clothing sang the hymn  "O GOD OF BETHAL BY WHOSE HAND" this being appropriate as the hymn was sung when the John Wickliffe left for Dunedin The wording of the plaque was in general terms ( no names ) as shipping company's records in some cases did not note the deaths. It was a moving service with most people present being descendents.
