No leaopards in Scotland-- traditions don't have to be 1000 years old to be
adoptable.
The leopard skins come from the days of Empire.
For that matter, pipe bands are relatively recent,  pipers were primarily
soloists up until the birth of the Scottish regiments late in the 18th
century. Pipe band start about 1850 in the Crimean War.
