The Sinclair's on the Jacobite were the personal body guard of the King of
France, the Essoce, a Sinclair commanded always this guard the rear guard
action allowed Prince Charles to make good his escape. They wer sent by the
French and were Prince Charles only foriegn troopsThe Royal Scots, first on
foot, loyal to the Hanoverions were led John Mourdant his second in command
was James Sinclair.

If you remember the house by English field it was the farm house of James
Sinclair farmer, he was accused by Cumberland's men of being a Jacobite, but
that is another story.

A lost cause will always win a victory in men' s imaginations. We were not
with the Pretender we were loyal to the King. We had no part in the risings
of 1715 or 1745

No British regiment carries Culloden battle honours today.
