With all this talk about old words , some of you may want to check out "Made
In America "  by Bill Bryson , which deals with the origins and growth of
our American version of English. Find out that the Pilgrims sounded like
Yosemite Sam! He also has another book , "Mother Tongue " , which I haven't
read , but I think deals more with the evolution of the English language.
