Dear Della,
     Have you looked at the Ray Lower (the Clan USA genealogist) 's page
yet?  www.clansinclairusa.org "Genealogy"?   I assume you have checked
census records for information?  Have you left queries in the counties
involved plus a general query for the state of Kentucky on the USGenweb
system?  Maybe they were visiting in a nearby state when they got the flu.
