I have not seen Dave Mitchells reply to the list
regarding
the Cape Town Highlanders, but have news that
another
Cape Town Pipe band has been invited to the UK, in
July.
The Cape Field Artillery Pipe and Drums Band will
play
at the annual Music of the Night Festival at the
Royal Citadel
this month, in Plymouth. The regiment was founded
in Aug 1857, and is
the oldest reserve artillery regiment in existence
in the Commonwealth.
The regiment will affiliate with 29 Commando
Regiment Royal Artillery,
with which it fought,side by side, at the Battle of
Tobruk.
The kilt tartan of this Band appears to be the
Royal Stuart.
