I believe a tacksman is one who looks after horses use in
ploughing, and perhaps also for riding. A wadsetter in the old books was a
person who used wads of oakum to achieve water tightness of small boats and
perhaps of roofing among the gentry homes. And that is my final
answer........but I'm only 75% sure. All the best, Donald J.H.
