Dear Laurel,
                  I believe a tacksman is one who looks after horses use in 
ploughing, and perhaps also for riding.  A wadsetter in the old books was a 
person who used wads of oakum to achieve water tightness of small boats and 
perhaps of roofing among the gentry homes.  And that is my final
