Dear Toni:

Sorry about the noise....but it was really only two pipers and two snares
playing down College street last night from bar to bar.  And besides... out
of consideration for you folks across the Lake (Ontario)  we stopped early
at 3:30 am .  If you listened harder you would have heard my smallpipes with
two local fiddlers, a bouzouki, bodhran, and accordion.  These local players
here are amazing,  the bouzouki and one of the fiddlers showed up and we
went to basement to play the set through once before going on stage  ...
they both sounded like they had been playing the stuff all year.
Earlier, we had celebrated Burns Night as I have for the last nine years,
in my home.  I clear out all the  furniture,  invite brother and sister
musicians and a Burns fanatic to recite and we put on a show for my lovely
neighbours who include: Jews, Portuguese, Italians, Pakistanis, Greeks,
Chinese, who all bring their kids who sit on the floor while the show goes
on.  It ends of course with 20 pounds of Haggis with neeps and taties and
yours truly doing the address with my grandfather's dirk. Last night my
thrust was a tad vigourous and I shattered the turkey platter upon which the
"hurdies" sat.  The kids thougtht it was great.  Maybe that is what toni
heard 50 miles away!  It gets better every year.
