Re: do you know this gordon sinclair?

My father W.H.C. Sinclair, Manitoba Canada, bought one of Gordon Sinclair's
books for me at Christmas when I was about eleven years old. I am now sixty
seven years old.
He wrote many books of adventure, not as good as Jack London though.

Yours Aye
Ken W Sinclair MB Canada

+AD4-
+AD4- Canadian's thoughts on America
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-Interesting - a defense of America from someone else.
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-This comes from a Canadian newspaper about America. A remarkable
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-television commentator. What follows is the full text of his
trenchant
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-remarks as printed in the congressional Record:
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4AIg-This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-earth.
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-out
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-dollars
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-When the franc was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-Americans
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled
on
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4AIg-When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-flattened
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-by tornadoes. Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-in
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-those countries are writing about the decadent, war-mongering
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-Americans.
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4AIg-I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over
the
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo
Jet,
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC-10? If so, why don't they
fly
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-them? Why do all the Inter- national Airlines except Russia fly
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-American
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man
or
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-woman on the moon?
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4AIg-You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-about
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-technocracy, and you find men on the moon-not once, but several times
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4--- and safely home again.
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4AIg-You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-store
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-pursued
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-they
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-pa
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-at home to spend here.
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4AIg-When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-through age, it was the American who rebuilt them. When the
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-Pennsylvania
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-old
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-caboose. Both are still broke. I can name you 5000 times when the
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-me
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-earthquake.
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4AIg-Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is
damned
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-thing
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-their
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4-hope
+AD4- +AD4- +AD4- +AD4-Canada is not one of those. Stand proud, Americans+ACEAIg-
