Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to despair slightly. Did you mean
Orkney or Orney? Never heard of Orney.
If you have ever delved around Scottish Clan History books, you would find
that only one or two historians did anything about recording. Most Clan
Historians neither know much about the lineage, or bother to accumulate
data. I have been doing military research for 5 years, and there are only a
few books that record prominent family trees.
I think the Lieutenant William Sinclair I am looking for was related to the
Clan Chief. Unfortunately, I am far from our National Library in Edinburgh.
I perhaps should ask the question the other way round! Who was Clan chief of
the Sinclairs in 1776, and what were his sons? I think I will post this
message.
Any help would be appreciated
