-------

I am researching my Sinclair lines (Sinclairs married Sinclairs) for myself and my mother (born in Dunoon, Argyll, Scotland). There are many Sinclairs in Dunoon cemetery - many that My Granny Sinclair (age 85)continues to care for. As a young girl she knew many of them. I am currently trying to learn more about the Sinclairs who lived in Papa Stour, Shetland Islands during the late 1700s to early 1800s. In particular Archibald Sinclair and Elspeth Fraser who married and had (at least) John Scott Sinclair and Archibald - born early 1820s. The family or parts of it reappear in Invararay in the 1850s - 1870s. Most of these family members including Archibald, a son, John, Sarah and maybe Jessie or Robert died in Dunoon. We really are interested in exploring what reasons would push the Papa Stour Sinclairs from an island of 350 inhabitants (in the 19th century) to Argyllshire. What work awaited them?

Any help or thoughts on how to continue to add the colorful details to our family history would be greatly appreciated.
